Breastfeeding guidance
If you would like guidance related to breastfeeding, you are warmly welcome to contact us – whether it is your first or fifth time – we will help you find a solution, either at your home or at our place.
We, the midwives at Min Fødsel, have extensive and broad experience in helping women with questions about feeding their little ones. Whether you are breastfeeding or bottle-feeding, we want to be there for you.
Read more about how we can assist you below.
Establishing breastfeeding
Breastfeeding for most involves the baby taking the mother’s naturally produced milk directly from the breast. The path to achieving this can be challenging, and sometimes it may seem like an impossible goal.
We are happy to support you during the establishment phase, offering practical guidance and support to help you succeed in the best way for you and your baby, even if what you seek is simply confirmation that breastfeeding is going well.
Challenges while breastfeeding
A lot can happen during the breastfeeding journey that it can be helpful to get assistance with resolving. In the beginning, it's often about sore nipples, engorgement, weaning off nipple shields, low weight gain in the baby, tongue-tie, and general breastfeeding techniques. Later on, other issues may arise, such as mastitis, yeast infections/eczema, low milk supply/oversupply—the list of questions is long.
Pumping and bottle-feeding
In some cases, breastfeeding may not work well for the mother and baby, or you may choose to feed your baby with a bottle for other reasons. In these situations, we provide individual guidance and advice on pumping and bottle-feeding. We can offer advice on feeding your baby with a bottle, cleaning bottles and pumping equipment, expressing breast milk, weaning, and more.
Weaning
Everything comes to an end. Sometimes the need to stop breastfeeding arises earlier than you would have liked, and sometimes it feels like you are breastfeeding 'beyond time.' Regardless of the reason, the end of breastfeeding can be challenging. Maybe you would like advice and help in this final phase of breastfeeding?
Breastfeeding guidance and services
We are well aware that there is an overwhelming amount of information and documentation on this vast topic, and as parents, it’s not always easy to know where or how to start searching for 'the right information that suits my situation.'
The midwives at Min Fødsel would like to help you find a solution, so that the first, important period after birth is a good one, whether it involves breastfeeding or bottle-feeding. We can also be there for you throughout the entire breastfeeding period, especially if it becomes challenging.
With us, we base our guidance on Norwegian guidelines and recommendations regarding breastfeeding and infant feeding when advising mothers/parents on these matters.

Breastfeeding guidance at home
A midwife will come to your home on short notice if you need assistance. We allocate plenty of time to assess and observe the breastfeeding situation, as this is crucial for providing the right guidance and support you need during the early days at home with your newborn.
We know that an early home visit from a midwife can prevent prolonged breastfeeding issues and the insecurity associated with it. Furthermore, we create a customized plan based on your situation and preferences.
Price: 2500 NOK
Small postpartum package
Our small postpartum package consists of a breastfeeding consultation at our office with a midwife before birth and a home visit after the birth.
During the breastfeeding consultation, we go over general breastfeeding information, which we know is important for a good start to breastfeeding and the postpartum period with a newborn at home. If you have previously had a complicated breastfeeding journey or have other concerns/challenges to consider, we will create a breastfeeding plan that can be brought to the hospital where you will give birth.
The breastfeeding consultation lasts about 60 minutes, and we recommend that your partner or another support person participate in the conversation.
A midwife will come to your home after the baby is born. An early home visit from a midwife often helps resolve any challenges early on, which in turn increases the chances of good milk production and a successful breastfeeding journey.
Close follow-up from a midwife provides security for the new family, allowing you the peace and time to get to know your baby without worries. If you wish, we can also review the birth process (remember to bring the Partogram from the hospital). We answer questions about breastfeeding/feeding, sleep, clothing, and the baby's needs during the early days at home.
Price: 3500 NOK
Large postpartum package
Our large postpartum package consists of one breastfeeding consultation at our office with a midwife before birth and three home visits after the birth. During the breastfeeding consultation, we go over general breastfeeding information, which we know is important for a good start to breastfeeding and the postpartum period with a newborn at home. If you have previously had a complicated breastfeeding journey or have other concerns/challenges to consider, we will create a breastfeeding plan together, which you can bring to the hospital where you will give birth.
