Kristin Bøhn

Kristin has over 20 years of experience as a midwife, both from a regular maternity ward and the ABC unit. She has a deep passion for midwifery, preventive healthcare, women’s health, and health policy.
She holds a BSN degree from the USA, where she also worked as a nurse after completing her education. After returning to Norway, she was employed at Ullevål for nearly 25 years until the closure of the ABC unit. She first worked as a nurse in the Infectious Diseases Department and the Medical Observation Unit before completing her midwifery training.
She holds a midwifery acupuncture qualification (2006), guidance competence (2008), and a supplementary master's degree in midwifery from USN (2018). On the maternity ward, she has served as a clinical midwife for several years and participated in various committees, including the procedure committee for the maternity ward at Oslo University Hospital (OUS). In her last three years at Ullevål, she landed her dream job as a midwife at the ABC unit, where she was also a union representative and played a central role in the 'Save ABC' campaign.
She was awarded 'Union Representative of the Year 2022' by the Norwegian Midwives Association and now serves on DNJ’s regional board. She also holds a part-time position as a university lecturer in midwifery at OsloMet. In her free time, she has held various positions, including being on the board of Refugee Welcome Norway and volunteering with refugees in Oslo for many years, organizing Norwegian language courses, cultural activities, and fundraisers. She has also worked for the American Red Cross as a 'Community CPR' instructor and as part of their disaster response team.
On a personal note, she is married with four children, one born at ABC and the other three at home.
Kristin continues to fight alongside her colleagues and supporters for better maternity care, where new families are at the center and individual needs and wishes are respected.
